Science and Technology of Materials is the official journal of SPM, the Portuguese Society of Materials, providing a forum for publishing peer-reviewed papers related to both fundamentals of materials science and technological application of engineering materials.
Space Mission: Though space mission is very old but its success came on October 4th 1957 when ‘Sputnik’ an artificial satellite was sent to space by Russian scientists and in the same year on November they sent another satellite Sputnik 2 with a dog in it. The CSTD is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the United Nations focal point for science, technology and innovation (STI) for development, in analyzing how STI, including information and communications technologies (ICTs), serve as enablers of the 2030 Agenda.
If possession of nuclear weapons does not tend toward zero, it will tend instead toward universality; and though no one can predict the pace of this, it will mean, in the long run, that the probability of use of these weapons will tend toward unity ( 71 ). There are, moreover, powerful arguments that a prohibition of nuclear weapons is not only a practical and moral but a legal necessity, under international law ( 72 ). It is also telling that, over the years, more and more of the people who have had command over the U.S. nuclear arsenal and the policies governing its use have reached the conclusion that pursuing prohibition is the only sensible option ( 73 ).
The converse impact of technology on science is of at least equal importance: (1) through providing a fertile source of novel scientific questions and thereby also helping to justify the allocation of resources needed to address these questions in an efficient and timely manner, extending the agenda of science; (2) as a source of otherwise unavailable instrumentation and techniques needed to address novel and more difficult scientific questions more efficiently.
